Vacancy for Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

Wistow Parish Council are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer.

This is a challenging but rewarding role managing the Council’s financial & accounting processes making sure the council is complying with its statutory duties and making sure it works within the legal framework.

The council are also working towards opening a new cemetery in the village, in the short term the Clerk will be helping with the planning process and may have extended duties in cemetery management in the long term.

We are looking for an individual who has previous experience of working in a financial role and should have expertise in budgetary control, managing income and expenditure and an ability to prepare audits.  Applicants must be proficient with excel, word, outlook and PowerPoint.

Hours are flexible to suit the applicant and you will work from home. You will be required to attend Parish Council meetings in the evening – currently on the second Tuesday of

the month, and be flexible if other meeting should arise.

Experience in local government is preferable, but not essential, and the council can help applicants with training if needed.

This is a part time role, the contracted hours are 6 hours per week. The rate of pay is based upon the local governement services pay agreement which is negotiated by the National Joint Council and is currently set at level 13 on the SCP pay scale, equivalent of £13.97 per hour.
